Event DescriptionWhat Chef Katie Button and Winemaker Maggie Harrison share is a moment that changed everything, a moment that revealed their true passion in life. For Katie, it was a waitressing job; for Maggie, a case of malaria. Katie left her prestigious PhD program in neuroscience and started on a path that would include a stage at Ferran Adriá’s mythical El Bulli before eventually returning to the States to open a restaurant in 2011. Curaté, her first restaurant, synthesizes Spanish flavors and local Southern ingredients for tapas-style dining that has earned her multiple awards, including Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Chefs 2015. Her cuisine will be balanced by pairings from Winemaker Maggie Harrison of Lillian Winery and Antica Terra. Maggie, who has been named a Food & Wine Winemaker of the Year, recovered from malaria years ago with a new resolve to “get serious” about her passion. She chose to pursue wine. Today, she is known for her highly-regarded, small-lot wines, particularly her Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. After tasting their food and wine, you’ll thank Fate for rerouting them.
