This is the year I master Sirshana pose aka the headstand

This is the year I master Sirshana pose- the headstand.

One of the reasons I love yoga is that the opportunities for growth are almost infinite. There is no arriving in yoga – only evolving. This year, I will deepen my practice by learning to hold a two minute headstand without the aid of a teacher or wall.

The headstand is called the “king of poses.” Regular practice of headstands improves balance, strength, flexibility, concentration and circulation. The pose is physically challenging in that you must have the strength in your upper body and core to hold your legs above your head. You must also mentally overcome a natural fear of falling before you can balance successfully. The headstand is not an easy pose to master, but it is worthwhile to take the time and effort to do so.

I will be stretching myself beyond my comfort zone as I integrate this balancing pose into my yoga practice. With commitment, I do believe it is attainable.

Wishing you the success of achieved goals in 2015!
