Top Five Pours for Spring

Sommelier Andy Chabot shares his top 5 pours for spring!
1.     Pret a Boire Rosé – this is the rosé made by the Amuse Bouche wine team (Heidi Barrett). It’s a Grenache and Syrah blend rosé from Napa Valley and it’s made in extremely limited quantities. Perfect for a Spring picnic!

2.     Wimmer Czerny Weelfel Gruner Veltliner – a terrific Biodynamic producer from the Wagram region of Austria whose Gruner Veltliner is a perfect match for Spring dishes.

3.     Araujo, Syrah, Napa Valley – This is one of the few Biodynamic producers in the US. It just so happens that they are also one of the best producers. While they are most renowned for their Eisele vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, their Syrah is one of my favorite Syrahs period – the smoky, peppery and bright fruit flavors accompany the grilled light game courses that we often find ourselves enjoying during this season.

4.     Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Aligoté – The wines from this Biodynamic Burgundy heavy-hitter are always at the top of my go-to list. This particular wine is only one of 2 white wines made by the domaine and it’s made from the “other” white grape of Burgundy.

5.     Cayuse, God Only Knows, Grenache – This Biodynamic producer of Walla Walla crafts some of this country’s most sought after Rhône varietals. For Spring, we turn to his small production Grenache which pairs excellently with our lighter Spring cuisine.
