We recently sat down with Katie Lee and asked her five questions to learn more about her. See what her responses were!

What ingredient can you not live without?
Tough question! I'd have to say salt. Most important thing in cooking is to have the food seasoned properly. I am a big fan of Maldon sea salt.
If you could only cook with one pan/dish what would it be?
I use my Le Creuset Dutch oven frequently. I use it for braised meats, soups, stews, even for frying.
What is your favorite thing to do when not in the kitchen?
I started surfing about four years ago and I am totally addicted to it. My perfect day is surfing, hitting up the farm stand, then cooking dinner. Everything tastes better after surfing.
Favorite memory in the kitchen?
When I was a little girl, my grandma used to pull a stool over to the counter and I'd climb up and help her make biscuits. The biscuit dough was my version of play-dough. That is where my love of cooking first began and to this day, if I'm homesick for West Virginia, I'll get out the flour and make a batch of her biscuits.
What would you be if you were not a Chef?
If I wasn't cooking for a living, I would have been a facialist. I love skin care. I like making my own products from my pantry. I use coconut oil for moisturizer, I do baths with oatmeal and powdered milk, I use coffee grounds for body scrub.
