Nurture with Nature

Events & Signings

The use of Nature to prevent and treat mental health dates back to the late 1700’s. Near the close of World War II, the U.S. military embraced the therapeutic value of animals and gardening to successfully treat veterans suffering from anxiety and mental anguish related to combat. Today, many hospitals and assisted senior livingcenters use green spaces, gardening, and service animals to help elevate patients’ moods and improve recovery times. Here at Blackberry Farm, tending to the gardens and our animals is a fulfilling part of our daily routine. Join us on the farm, and let us take you back to a simpler time; a time when a hardday’s work cultivating the land, and caring for the animals imparted a deep sense of contentment.

from the ground up

Much of the food we eat begins as a seed. And so it is, the quality of the seed has an impact on the quality of the fruit or vegetable that springs forth from it. Meander along on an extensive tour of our multiple gardens with our gardeners as we illuminate the story behind each plant variety, and share with you the tremendous collection of heirloom seeds we lovingly, and expertly work to preserve. Please contact the Concierge for availability.

day in the life of the master gardener

Our connection with Mother Earth is as old as time. For centuries, we have relied on Her bounty to clothe, feed and shelter us. It is no wonder that scientific studies prove that working in the soil enhances mental and emotional well-being, lowers blood pressure, and boosts the immune system. Let our gardeners take you through the heritage, history and craft of sowing, harvesting and seed saving. Work the fields, harvest the day’s produce, and shell some seeds. Gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the earth, while elevating your state-of-being. Please contact the Concierge for availability.
