While harvesting root vegetables and planting for the season ahead, there are signs of new beginnings and growth below and above ground throughout property. As the blossoming beauty of Spring spreads across the mountainside, our calendar brims with opportunities to savor the best of this season amidst the refreshing backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains.
From the heirloom gardens to the heritage livestock pasture, our Farmstead is a year-round operation constantly adding to the rich history of the Farm and its environs.
We start some of our edible flowers, herbs and greens inside of our "seed vault."
Root vegetable seeds are planted.
We begin re-seeding sheep pastures.
Our Garden team starts peppers, tomatoes, eggplants and more edible flowers and herbs in trays indoors.
Detailed weeding and amending soil begins around the perennials in the Garden.
Potatoes are planted.
We harvest Winter pea tendrils, edible flowers, herbs, root vegetables and greens.
Bed prep in the Garden is completed.
